bloggers aren't reporters...

Read what Lia has to say about bloggers. Frankly I'm a little hurt (this is my blog for journalism ethics with Prof. Robertson), because she's talking about what we are trying to do, somewhat saying that bloggers aren't reporters...

Blogger Pride people!

I think bloggers are reporters ... when they do reporting. Talking to people is reporting.
Talking to the *correct* people is good reporting, and so on and so on, through all the nuances of collecting information that people need to know or want to know or "should" know. If you are collecting information that you wish to share you are reporting. So say I.

We live in a very competitive world. We live in a democracy.
There will always be those who will critique your reporting/ blogging. Let this not be a hindrance. Instead, you should take this in stride, to a point or level when one functions competently. Everyone "knows" the rules and the ethics. There is no use to ponder what one should have said or not said.
